The following are some of the sites I've designed. Click on the images for larger screen-shots.

Flash Final Project: PDA Application for Mystic Aquarium
My final project fits within the framework of a larger project at imedia, working to create a virtual aquarium. In its final form, this application will allow people to get extensive information on any fish in the aquarium. In addition, they can "beam" into an exhibit using the IR port on the PDA to get instant information on that exhibit.

Flash Project: A day in the life
For this project, we were asked to create a "Day in our Life". I chose to focus on my thoughts during my daily commute to class in Providence, RI.

The Online Advocate
Developed for the Boston Medical Center and Children's Hospital Boston, The Online Advocate is a dynamic database driven web survey tool which is designed to use technology to help address social needs. Based on responses from the initial rollout, I am currently updating The Online Advocate to create referrals to advocacy groups based on a user's responses. I am the lead programmer/designer on this project with Dr. Eric Fleegler as lead researcher.

Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America (CSREA), Brown University
There were four goals for the CSREA website redesign: have information about CSREA be immediately accessible, provide access to all points of the site from the homepage (achieved through drop-down menus), convey a sense of the scholarly nature of the center, and highlight the achievements of CSREA students as a way of building up a sense of community around the Center.

Institute on Race and Ethnicity (IRE) at the University of Wisconsin System
The IRE was looking for a design that would create a bold first impression, convey a sense of what the Institute was all about, yet also offer quick access to other parts of the site. So we created a modified splash page which incorporated a strong graphic with the kente-cloth inspired header that runs throughout the rest of the site.

ET102 Race and Language in the U.S., a course at Brown University
This course includes a number of provocative readings meant to challenge students' conceptions of race, language and the world around them. So the readings themselves are highlighted on the homepage, done in a graphical manner to turn what could have been a text-heavy homepage into a visually pleasing one. The banner image of lips overlaid by the flag visually communicates the central theme of the course.

ET152 Critical Perspectives on Whiteness, a course at Brown University
Since "whiteness studies" is such a new and unfamiliar field, we chose to use a collage of images to illustrate both the variety of "white" identities and experiences (from white and non-white perspectives), as well as to communicate the dynamic nature of the subject matter.
